Officially Fat

Besides the fact that I can't button my pants or tuck my shirts in, I have one more marker telling me to lose weight. I have crossed the 200 lb threshold! I had my body fat tested using the hydrostatic testing (like on the Biggest Loser - same company actually) and it wasn't as bad as I thought but it's not good. I have almost 40 lbs of fat I'm carrying around. Ugh! We are running a fitness contest at work which I'm hoping will help keep me motivated. Motivation to do anything is tough to find these days so I'm hoping the fire I have to do this will not burn out, but instead, help motivate me with other things as well. Katie and I were terrible "fitness" partners. As soon as one would do good on a diet or at the gym, the other would inadvertently sabotage the other. Never maliciously. It's just human nature to want to be on equal ground so sleeping in together becomes more rewarding than going to the gym or baking brownies at midnight wasn't unreasonable. Things that I'm glad we did. The only drawback I have for not wanting to workout is it will make me healthier. I just want to wear my clothes again!
I had a busy morning with doctors. I went to the dentist this morning and had 4 fillings. I think they were mostly replacing old ones. I have a fantastic dentist who is very gentle, and the only pain I have is from the needle used to numb my mouth. It makes my mouth very achy afterwards. My teeth feel great though! Then I had a check up with my doctor and my blood pressure is down from my January visit. And my meds are working pretty well. So no complaints there.

James, if you have 40 lbs of fat carried around, I would hate to see where I am at.....

James,

I was deployed and lost 20 pounds while gone. It came right back within two or three months of being home. I keep trying to convince myself it makes me look buff...you know...thicker through the shoulders.

Sigh, I'm just fat.

Adam

Welcome

Through the worst tragedy I could never imagine, my life has become what it has become. Through this blog, I will continue to tell my story. Some days are good and many are not, but those are the cards I've been delt and I will continue to play my hand until the Lord makes me fold. Also, I hope that you will learn more about Pancreatic cancer and help bring light to this horrible disease so that other victims will be given more time to enjoy life than my precious wife had. Happy reading.
